Seems
like a crazy question, however, the answer may surprise you even more, the
answer is yes. Let's explore some ways a
wedding can be written off. Please do
not get married for a tax write-off. Do
not even get me started.
1-
Your wedding dress has been
purchased, worn and now what. Do you
save your dress, give it away or donate your dress. If you donate your dress to a second hand
store, www.MakingMemories.org or other non-profits (non-profit is the key) your
dress can be a tax write-off. Other
items such as bridesmaid dresses, flower girl and ring bearer attire can be
written off as well. Make certain you
have a photo of your dress and receipt.
2-
Your wedding venue, check out your
museums, public owned parks, historic buildings, and of course the non-profits
in the area. Be creative with your
venue. Ever thought of a wedding in the
entry way of The Museum of the Rockies (not certain they will be as excited as
I), Story Mansion, Greater Yellowstone
Coalition. Bozeman is filled with
non-profit organizations.
3- Charity organizations may be able to use wedding favors and gifts. Donate these items, or instead of giving weddings favors or gifts have your guests donate to a non-profit of your choice.
4- Flowers and food from your wedding can be donated to a local nursing home, homeless shelter, or other non-profit. Keep you receipts for all your purchases that you are donating along with a photo of the donated items.
